Help HTC Mail issue

I have a gmail account and I am receiving email through the stock mail function on my Incredible.

Everytime I respond to an email (to another gmail account) it starts a new conversation in my gmail, as opposed to continuing the conversation in the current thread.

Any way to fix this?

I'd recommend just getting the free gmail app from market and using that for gmail...problem solved.

I having been using the HTC stock email for about two month with no issue until the last couple of days. 4 times this week when I opened the HTC stock email it empties out my in-box then repopulates it with the old emails identifying them as all new messages.
Anyone else having this issue? Is there something that I can do to fix it. Getting tired of having to re-open every email to get rid of the new email counter that is just reflecting old emails. thanks
