htc mytouch 3g 1.2

i'm a new guy here...
using a htc mytouch 3g 1.2 w/ 3.5 mm jack...updated to 2.2.1 when first connected it to my wifi.......can i have help rooting it?
also,while creating a goldcard for this , i enter my CID properly according to the instructions, it says "Please enter a valid cid." what's with that?

As for your rooting question, I suggest that you check out the All Things Rooted section for the information that you need. I am sure that if it is not already posted there, someone (with more knowledge than me) will be more than willing to give you step-by-step instructions to root your phone.
