HTC One (M8) or Galaxy S5: Which phone is "better"?

TechTube

Newbie
Both, the Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8 are powerful phones. I present to you my full comparison of both phone so you can make up your mind on which phone you think is better!:

Which one would you prefer, GALAXY S5 or HTC ONE M8? Please let me know down below!!

Of course there is no "right" answer to this question. Everyone has their own needs and preferences in a phone. Do your research, hold and use both phones, then buy the one you want. its that simple.

I ended up with the m8 because it turned out to be much cheaper at the time than the s5. I honestly would have been fine with either phone.

I went with the s5, mainly because of the replaceable battery. I also love the amoled screen, after seeing the m8s screen in person, it would have been fine for me.

I may still buy the m8 for my second line, I was trying to downsize to 1 phone, but I think that's just because my "unused" phone is a useless iPhone.

The problem is , there is rarely a subjective answer for a question like that, epecially when asking on a forum of M8 users. I would suggest browsing both the M8 and S5 forums, looking at the stickies that include reviews and just the forums in general Then handle both phones to see which one fits your personal taste.

I really wanted the S5's large megapixel camera, OLED display, and removable battery, but the downsides to the S5 made me go the other way.
The 16gb S5 is the only version that is available with no release data set for the 32gb. Knox software is a big turn off for me since I love to root and rom my phones. The current root method available for the S5 trips Knox. I have a Galaxy Nexus and have about 3 extra batteries I use to swap when I need to, but the M8's reported battery life will make my habit of swapping batteries no more when compared to the anemic battery life of my current phone.
I have perused the forums for both the M8 and S5 for weeks now looking at all the pros and cons, and the pros of the M8 outweigh the S5 for me. I can live with the low megapixel camera of the M8 and non removable battery.
I felt up the M8 and S5 and they both are solid phone imo (again my current phone is a Galaxy Nexus so either phone is a big upgrade) and liked the metal feel of the M8 the most. The smooth edges are really nice and I liked the Duo camera (or whatever they call it) for focusing after I take pictures.
I am rooting for the underdog this round of the mobile wars and hope to see more quality phones from HTC in the future. This is my first HTC phone and so far I am impressed.

I got the M8 cause I had the S3 and just felt like I wanted a change... I played with the S5 and just felt like it was the same exact phone as the S3 just A LOT bigger

Went with the M8 although I was planning to get the GS5. Problem with the GS5 is what seems like a large dose of bloatware - seems to be more that what comes with the M8. After 2 weeks with the M8 happy. The "Sprint Sparks" enables me to have 4G signal where my my single band EVO LTE 4G didn't. (GS5 also has this feature.) like the feel of M8 over the GS5, but that is personal preference.
