HTC one M8 totally dead after charge port change

As the title says really,a pretty straightforward change after my port required a constant wiggle of the charging cable to get some juice into the phone,which is like new apart from this

I get a nice,healthy charge,the battery symbol on screen a red then later a green light but absolutely nothing after all of the various button pressing combinations,plugged into wall or laptop-which doesn't recognize it, any help totally appreciated...

Perhaps when the port was changed, some other fault was caused. Did you change it, or someone else?

I changed it myself,it was quite simple really
