HTC One M8S Reviews ?

12noon

Newbie
Hi, can anyone answer a few questions about the One M8S ?

I've been looking for reviews for the M8s but can hardly find any and what i can find are very vague. I'm up for a phone upgrade very soon and this is the phone i fancy so here's my questions...

Does the battery last the day out ? I use my phone for a few hours per day checking facebook, reading text messages and looking at the odd web page. I don't play games on the phone.

Does the phone get very warm or hot ? I don't mind it getting a bit warm, but hope it doesn't get too hot.

What's the 13 megapixel camera like ? I could do with it being ok for sending pics to facebook and being able to zoom in and still be able to take reasonable photos.

Is the phone due an upgrade to the latest version of Android and HTC Sense 7 ?

I can answer a few of your questions.

Does the battery last all day?
Yes. Obviously it depends on your usage, but it lasts me a good day of use. I wouldn't count on any more - you will need to charge each night.

Does the phone get warm or hot?
It comes with a rubber case. If you use this, then you can't really feel any heat. To be honest, I haven't used it without the case, so I couldn't tell you if the aluminium shell heats up.

What is the 13 no camera like?
You have two different modes. The first is duo (3d effects and selective focus). This is auto only with no flash. It actually takes respectable shots, and the focus trick works well in the right shot.

The second mode is pretty much a standard 13mp android cam. Great shots in normal conditions, but in low light a bit of noise creeps in. It has a good flash, so just use it in low light.

The video is also ok, except there is no ois. You get up to 1080 at 60 fps (no 4k), and there is a nice 120 fps mode at a reduced (720x480 ish) resolution that actually is really smooth. Overall, it is no Nokia, but for Facebook you will have no issues.

There are a squillion image editing options which can be fun as well.

I personally find it one of the best value for money phones outside the Chinese market. The speakers are awesome, as is the screen.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the answers and it sounds like a good upgrade from the phone i've got at the moment (Galaxy S4 Mini).

What i was looking for was a phone with a bigger screen than the one i've got. A camera that had a little bit of a zoom on it or the ability to be able to crop and also a phone without too much lag between closing one app and opening another. Oh and as long as the battery lasted the day with my two or three hours use per day.

I have looked at other phones around the same price, but kept coming back to this one because i've had two HTC phones (Wildfire and One V) before and liked them both. I was thinking about a Xperia Z3 but don't trust myself with an all glass phone with my drop a phone every two month hands.

Anyway thanks for the help.
