HTC ONE Mini problems

Recently bought a HTC One Mini from Vodafone and just now it had 8 percent charge left when it suddenly turned off. Won't turn back on and tried the whole "hold down the power button and the volume button etc solutions". Also it wont charge and the LED to indicate that the phone is charging wont come back on.

Initially I would plug it in (on charge) and leave it for several hours. When the battery is really flat, the leds dont always light up at first. Generally its best not to run phones intil they are completely flat - just charge them whenever you can - modern batteries are not like old ni-cads which used to benefit from complete charging cycles.
