HTC ONE X Blocked by Customs?

Welcome to AF, fairypotter! :)

I don't actually believe HTC are at fault here. The reason customs are checking is because of some ludicrous patent claim Apple won a while back. If you want to blame anyone, blame Apple:

A friend of mine had this to say in the LTEvo release thread

Yep, they removed it long ago.

Truth is, Rezound buyers were worried about this hitting them around the turn of the year when the decision went down.

HTC had until April 19th to comply and according to accounts pushing this story, this is the first major shipment since that date.

As others have been entering the country before this, this could have been checked by Apple at any time, and no doubt was.

So this is just another Apple predatory practice.

The HTC stock drop and scare that hit their record growth last year in November was tied directly to this same case.

Apple is after all Android, but certainly the company that built the first one, HTC.

And yes, the horse named "this feature was done before Apple patented it" was beaten to death last year without success.

The patent system got broken terribly during dot com days legislation.

You live in a country where a recent patent was granted for making toast - "the bread freshening method." Look it up if you don't believe me.

Nothing here was invented by Apple. Nothing.

Yep read this on the BBC news site earlier and totally thought 'well that's another Apple tactic to try corner the American market'... man I will never buy an Apple phone.

What kind of impact would this have on other phone users in term of app development?

Anyone know?

Probably very little to none.

HTC pulled this off (for a great many years) as part of Sense. Unless and until Apple starts going after the Java language application programming interface (about as easy as Apple going after the English language), I wouldn't worry about the independent dev community or the many fine apps that they provide to make Android truly great.

In my opinion. ;) :)

They didn't expect the problem - HTC has been in compliance with the court order from Apple's phoney baloney patent since earlier this year.

This is Apple being predatory.

Keep the faith, it's a great phone and by all accounts, this nonsense should clear up very quickly - we're checking on it hour by hour.

Meanwhile - welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the welcome.

Honestly, I don't care whose fault it is. I just REALLY want my phone. It's agonizing to have to wait this long to get rid of this horrible iPhone.

This came out over the Evo 4G LTE, the Sprint One X in other words.

From Inside Sprint Now (UPDATE: HTC EVO 4G LTE – Delayed Launch Status Inside Sprint Now):

As you know, over the past 24 hours we’ve been posting on the delayed launch of the HTC EVO 4G LTE.

as of 4:45PM, we are able to report:

‘Pick and Pack’ has now been completed on ALL pre-orders, therefore cancellation of orders is no longer possible.

HTC has a judicial hearing scheduled this week, and we should have clearance to ship shortly thereafter.

Unofficially, we should be shipping no later than the first of next week, likely sooner.
This is a very fluid situation, and we’ll be updating throughout the evening as more is learned. Obviously a date can’t be confirmed until the judicial review, however, internally the anticipation is a very quick resolution.

Your phone was on that same shipment.

By the way, that is hot news, just in.

Should be clearing up quickly for you.

Totally feel your frustration, it sucks to be waiting like this.

Why would anyone buy that for $750 from you when you can get it for $600 from a seller on Amazon? You might want to drop that price bud. Hahah

Because you can trust me more than a random Amazon seller. Kidding though as I really don't want to let go of this phone. I loves it.

I thought Google & Motorola were going to stop Apple from keep interfering with Android phone makers by using the GSM patent against Apple.
I am sure if they gave Apple the ultimatum that they would stop them using GSM unless they leave the android Gang alone Apple would back down.
After all the iphone would be usless without being able to use the GSM side of things.
