HTC One X Car upgrade kit CAR D110

Does anybody know what tells the One X that it's been put into a Car Dock as opposed to a standard charger? I thought it'd be the pins on the back, but no dice looking at the photos.

Is it a bridging of two USB pins on the lead?

I know there is an option to automatically go into car mode when it picks up the bluetooth in your car. It's something you can setup, but presumably the official dock can send this info to the phone too.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. Without trying it directly, I'm not sure what triggers what.

That is, I've seen demos where it's put in the Car Dock and Car Mode sparks up automatically. However, I'm just wondering if the same would happen if you just had a Bluetooth pairing. Would be pretty cool if it did, although I'd prefer it to start/stop Car Mode as I docked it in my car (but not the official D110 that I'm sorry to have hijacked in this thread).

It sticks to the window no problem, and has a good grip, however the disc to stick to the dashboard isn't sticky at all, definately won't stick to the dashboard so i'll have to think of something else, any suggestions?

!

get som 3M VHB double sided tape. You can get ready made pads from places that sell Helmet/ Action cameras.
I have this stuff sticking a Drift helmet camera to my Motorcycle helmet, and it does not budge. Tested at reasonable high speed too.
Not cheap though, especially if all you can get is ready made pads:
Contour Mount Adhesive Pads | Action Cameras UK

Might be a good alternative, but I would test on a plastic dash first:

Buy Double-Sided and Foam Tapes Hi-Bond D/S Adh Pads Grey 31mm Diax12pcs Hi-Bond VST 6508G online from RS for next day delivery.

This is mine installed. Disk stuck to a proclip mount that was already there and then the sucker onto that. Will see how it holds up.

Will see what the brodit mount is like when that comes out.

After messing around with a lot of different mounts, I'm realizing more and more that I might've been better off a long time ago, just purchasing a Pro-clip mount (just the mounting surface, not necessarily the specific mount for the phone).

I may pick one up now. I've wasted so much money on trying different mounts and finally have seen the light...LOL.

looks just what i needed! I did try double sided tape and as that didn't work and as i am impatient i just glued it to the dash:o
Thanks for the suggestion though!

crookloq, thanks for your infos :)

I have a question about the car kit.

Is the One X properly charged in the car kit with the kit's charger while running a navigation?

The reason for my question is, I heard that the standard HTC car charger C200 isn't able to charge the One X properly while running the Navigon navigation app.

Harry

To be honest Harry2 i haven't tried out the navigation yet, i might run a couple of tests if i get a chance this week and see what happens to the battery/charging.
I have bought a double USB car charger with one of the USB slots being a 2amp slot so i might see how that goes too

Not sure if this'll help, but i tried out google Navigation this morning and it charged fine, not sure how much of an extra drain Navigon would be but i think a 2amp charger should be ok.
