Help HTC One X - ring activate/screen issue

Hi all,

Wonder if someone could please assist as I'm now stumped.

My wife has had an HTC One X for around 2 months and all was fine and dandy till last week. When attempting to unlock from ring activate it does not want to slide up the screen (moves slightly), you have to struggle by dragging a quick access icon (phone, gmail etc etc) into the ring.

I was convinced this was a faulty screen but once in the main screen or any other screen that part of the screen responds perfectly well. Except Facebook which seems to be able to clcik "Comment" on any item even bottom of screen but then will not allow her to type anything into the comment box.

I have a video on youtube of what occurs but unable to add links as brand new member.

Any ideas?

Hi Neil, welcome to AF! :)

This is the first I've heard of something like this happening on the One X. However, there were (sort of) similar bugs on older software versions on older HTC Handsets. Curious that you mention facebook as the fix in those cases was to unlink the facebook account from the phone via the accounts and sync menu, reboot, then relink via the same menu.

I'm not 100% certain it will work in this case (as the problems are slightly different), but I don't suppose there's any harm giving it a go.

BTW, you should be able to add links now if you want to respond with your Youtube vid. :)

Very strange, it looks as though it's picking up something else touching the screen. To rule out a H/W issue, there's also a digitiser test you can try.

Bring up the dialer app, type *#*#3424#*#* and you'll be presented with an HTC test screen, hit accept, then put a check in the box next to line drawing test and you'll be prompted to draw lines all over the screen. Concentrate on and around the areas you're having issues with.

Does it error/tell you there's a problem?

Just looking at your video that paer says 'they are in your home, they are in your car' perhaps they are now in your phone :)

I wonder if you might try deleting some cached processes and restarting the phone to see of that helps.
Settings>apps>Running then menu and show cached processes.

In advance thanks for your assistance El Presidente.

I ran the line drawing test and it did not error...but...there is an area towards the bottom the screen that would not draw any line, which may point to a screen issue.. god I hope not:(

If there's an area that isn't drawing a line, I think you've a hardware issue unfortunately. Is it SIM free or via contract? If SIM free, give HTC a call (there are a number of options here). If you bought via your carrier and are on a contract, let them know.

You've a 2 year manufacturers warranty so you're totally covered no matter what the issue is.

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum & have had my HTC One X for 9 months.
Been having the same problems recently, when I go to unlock the circle icon wont move & then when I do get it unlocked it's as if something has jammed & the screen keeps moving left or right.

It's intermittent, sometimes the phone is ok, other times it wont budge
I tried the test-drawing & that worked fine.

I'm now trying the cached process.
Thanks for this
