HTC One X - UK upgrade and retentions deals (any carrier)

Hi All,

Well having watched and read the threads on here...I've bitten the bullet and taken my T-Mobile upgrade. Moving from a Desire to the One X, I was originally going to go with the Sensation XE but as there was only

Hi Pete, it's just a few days away from one month to go before my contract ends, so I don't think my options are visible on my T-Mobile account yet.

I got me Desire from mobiles.co.uk/Carphone Warehouse so it is unbranded and unlocked - my daughter is on Orange PAYG but her sim will go straight into my Desire.

I'd prefer another unlocked phone again - any idea if yours will be even though you are getting yours from T-Mobile?

Ian

Hi Ian,

Not too long to wait then....I know that feeling..my options showed up one month before expiry. I decided to wait and see what T-Mobile was going to do with the new HTC line-up - Glad I did.

Afraid I didn't ask, but I should imagine mine will be locked to T-Mobile as it's coming direct from them.

I expect you'll have a decent upgrade deal, just a question of whether CPW would be able to match it for you and stay on the current plan.

Cheers,
Pete.

Yeah, bean in touch with mobiles and someone should be calling me today. My contract us up on 18th May but as you know you can upgrade up to a month early.

I'm expecting to pay something for the handset - hopefully less than

Upgrading from my Desire at last which was on Panther 30 with 400 mins unlimited txts and 1GB data costing about

ot my t mobile one x yesterday. Micro sim in box, not too much hassle or wait to change the number over.
Paying about 550 over 24 months for mine, 190 upfront on 15 pm deal.
I would expect you would pay less than 100 upfront on 20 pm. Got both my daughter's on contract with my account too, and they were not that bothered about me leaving originally. You at least have an idea on what price they will give though.
Phone looks as if it is locked to tm, but not much bloatware on it.

Hi Tim,
The original Desire contracts all came with 3GB, if memory serves me. T-Mobile changed it to 500MB later on. Therefore my plan (like Ians) has always been 3GB.
Sorry, but I therefore didn't need to negotiate this with them.
When did you start your plan and was it 500MB from the start?

Cheers,
Pete.

I ordered it online early April 2010, as far as I knew they had always been 500mb, there was no option to have more without getting an add-on.

When did yours start? I think I'd prefer to pay less than get the additional data but I'm doubtful as to whether they'd allow it.

Thanks
Tim

Mine was May 2010. There was a catch, though. You needed Web'n Walk, which was only provided by default if you got your phone direct from T-Mobile. I had to make quite a few phone calls to T-Mobileto get them to switch me to Web'n Walk because my phone was provided by mobiles.co.uk. But they did it in the end. The two other phones on my account also have Web'n Walk but these were deals direct with T-Mobile.

Ian

Well that's strange because I ordered mine direct through the T-Mobile website. Maybe I'll bring this up when I call next because I have reached the 500mb limit a couple times over the 2 year period.

It may well be that you had web'nwalk but there was a lot of confusion over the data tariff later in the year when T-Mobile tried to impose a 500MB limit but then rescinded it. I have read that many people's accounts were not reverted to the original deal and they had to contact T-Mobile to get it sorted out. In fact my account details online look a bit strange but I haven't had any problems.

Hi Tim,

Yes mine was March 2010. My wifes Wildfire was June 2010 (direct with T-Mobile) and has the 3GB allowance. I agree with Ian, think you need to make a fuss and get them to check your account details.

Cheers,
Pete.

I just got off the phone with T-Mobile, and they've decided to complicate things even more so.

This time when I asked about upgrading and keeping my current plan, they said that I wouldn't be able to get internet on the

Hi Tim,

That's very odd...especially if the website is indicating that you can upgrade and roll your current plan over. I believe you indicated that in your original post. I wonder if T-Mobile are trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

Cheers,
Pete.

IIRC T-Mobile changed their data plan about June July 2010.
Ring up T-Mobile direct, that's what I did, and ask their retention people for a better price. On my 100 min, ul text ul data £15 a month plan they quoted £210 for the phone originally. This wasn't a deal or retention thing, so I asked for a little more. You should be near that.
