Hey all, just rooted to get wifi tether. Htc ota update is available, would it be ok to perform update? I used the rooted supersonic rom

I was able to update and still root. Found this on another thread.
***UPDATE OR NO UPDATE*** you can root either way:

Stock ROMs
-Shipped ROM (1.32.651.1) thanks to football [ROM]RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26 - xda-developers
-OTA update 1 (1.32.651.6) thanks to football [ROM]RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6 - xda-developers

Stock with Root
-Shipped (1.32.651.1) with root thanks to flipzmode [ROM] Stock RUU 1.32.651.1 | Update.zip Format - xda-developers
-OTA update1 (1.32.651.6) with root thanks to flipzmode [ROM] OTA Update 1.32.651.6 | Update.zip Format - xda-developers

okay, so the HDD shows up, and then what happens?

the update reboots the EVO and begins to install, shortly after, a hdd with a "?" appears. Then the Evo reboots again and starts android like normal.

I wish I could give you a definite answer, but I'm assuming since there are two categories of stock roms right now:
.1
and
.6

I'm assuming there are two kinds for a reason. One can only deduce that you shouldn't update to .6 after rooting the stock .1 os, rather flash a new updated/rooted rom.

If that doesn't work try the xda developer forums

I actually had ver .1 , I was able to get .6 installed. It Worked!!! Thanks to all

If you used Toast's root method you would not be able run the OTA update. It would attempt to, but would fail and reboot as described above. You could flash the rooted .6 ROM after you root using Toast's method so you could have root and the OTA update already applied.
