Help "HTC People" & "Phone"

Only a few of my contacts in "HTC people" ae searchable from the "phone" app on Wildfire. How can I make all entries in "HTC people" linked to the phone app. Additionally if I start a message from scratch, I cannot search / find contacts from the "HTC People" listing by name

I'm sure thre must be a simple solution !
