Help HTC SENSATION XE will only charge if the phone is turned on

Hey guys,

Just wondered if anyone has had an issue like this that could help me.

I've had my HTC Sensation Xe for a year and a half, the battery died on it one day and it refused to charge or turn on.
So i bought an external battery charger and charged the battery. When i put it back in the phone it powered up and seemed to be working fine. It also seems that i can charge the battery (in the phone) aslong as the battery is not completely empty/dead (and the phone isnt turned off).
So i bought a new battery for it to see if that made a difference, but it is the exact same.
Basically the phone refuses to charge when it is turned off.
I also noticed my phone gets pretty warm these days but i think that's common for the sensation xe?

I have stock rom, stock apps, stock settings and my phone has never been rooted so i don't know what is going on. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated? Pretty sure im also out of warranty.

It is a pain having to charge my battery separately all the time if it is empty.

Sounds like a problem in the phone charging circuit. Unfortunately, these days everything is on the motherboard, and isn't individually repairable. Unless you have an extended warranty, you're in for an external charger and 2 batteries.
