HTC Sense 3.0 Messaging app

I was wondering how does the HTC Sense 3.0 messaging app threads our messages? Does it thread by contact or phone number?

For example, if I have a contact with two or more numbers, will it thread all the messages into one?

It does it by contact. If you have someone with 2 numbers and they message you with either, it's placed under one name. When you type a reply, there is a default number for messaging. You can change it in the People App. You can even change it on the fly by long pressing the number in the reply message.

Oh thanks for the imformation. I also want to ask if the thread has more than 20k messages long, will the application lag or unable to open at all?

Usually by default most SMS apps have a setting that autodeletes all messages once it reaches 500 or so. You can turn that off, but going for like 1k will probably make it lag.

The messages are important so I cant delete them. Woah, 1k for a dual core will lag? Lag is ok, but will the app cant open the thread at all and hangs there?

I meant that if you have several threads with 1k, it may lag opening that thread. It won't lag like it will stop running or something. By default the apps will load only the last 20 or so messages, then if you want to see older messages you have to scroll up and press "see older messages" or something like that. I'd suggest just getting a third party SMS app like GO SMS Pro where you can flag important messages as "favorites", and label them to a folder, so you can see them in a folder separate from the threads.
