htc sync

I have been trying to run the htc sync on my phone that I downloaded from the htc website. It doesn't recognize that my phone is connected. I check to see if my pc is recognizing it and it does. Why can't I connect with my sync

What model HTC phone do you have?

I have the htc desire and have tried everything i can think of

Pull down the notification bar on your phone and hit HTC sync and then open up your HTC sync on your computer it should work. If not I don't know what to do.
