Okay, so I am really new at this forum stuff. I just took over my daughters vivid from my inspire. I have had it a couple of days now. So far everything was working fine until today. It will not connect to mobile internet, which is at&t. It will connect to wifi. It keeps telling me "connection failed due to incorrect APN setting". I talked to att support and they want me to do a master reset. That scares me because I don't want to lose EVERYTHING. Does anyone have any other ideas ? If I do have to do master reset can I save pictures and music, etc to sd card and be okay for the reset ? Need help here, TY :confused:
 
I went through this a while back when i gave my old htc aria to my wife.I had to call at&t and spend over an hour figuring this out.Turned out they enabled parental controls when i put the wife's sim card in it.They removed that and it fixed it.
You can go to menu/settings/wireless & networks and make sure wireless network is checked.If it is then it may be the APN settings.You can check them by going to menu/settings/wireless & networks/mobile networks"make sure Enable always on mobile data is checked"then proceed to>/access point names/HIT MENU Then RESET TO DEFAULT"This only resets APN settings to default".Restart phone and try it:)It also gives you the option to add a new APN when you hit menu.
If you do a hard reset everything on your sd card will still be there but the phone will be like it was when it was purchased.Hope this helps Good Luck!
