htc wildfire alive but not receiving or sending

Am on holiday in Mauritius, phone worked fine to start with but now does not send or receive anything. If I try to call it just beeps once and says call ended and if I try to text it sayss unable to send. Above the signal strength symbol there is the letter R, dont know if this is significant. Any help gratefully received am desperate.

Many networks have a credit limit on roaming: once you exceed your maximum spend, roaming is cut. The limits can be quite low, particularly if you don't contact the network before you travel.

You need to call your network (somehow ) to get roaming re-enabled. You might want to be ready with a credit card, too
