Samsung https access problem

Lurker
I have two Samsung devices both running Android and both accessing the internet with the same router. On one of them internet browsers work fine for all websites. On the other one http sites load OK but https sites won't. I've tried several different browsers but problem persists.

Android version 4.1.2 . As well as the system pre-installed browser, I've tried Chrome, Dolphin, Via, and Tiny Browser, all freshly installed so up to date, but all with the same result: http sites load OK but https sites won't.

The phone with the problem is quite old, but when I click on System Updates, it says it is fully up to date. Is there a way of installing a later Android even though the phone thinks it is up to date? Or is this a lost cause on this device?

The device that loads all websites OK is a Galaxy Tab A, model SM-T290. The one giving me the problem is a phone, model GT-I9100.
yeah sounds like your s2 is using outdated browsers.

and no there is no way to update the phone to a newer android os. your phone is too old. the hardware cannot not handle a new android os. you are pretty much SOL. I have a Note 4 which is not as old as your S2, but all I use if for is as to play music while I go for a walk. I do not use it for anything else.
