Root Huawei ascend g300 - un-requested wipe

RBKY

Lurker
I'm new to android, I purchased a Huawei ascend g300 and the guy in vodafone unlocked it. After playing about with apps and games, I wanted to get rid of the useless vodafone apps, so rooted it, but also did a Titanium full back-up to the SD. This morning whilst playing a game the phone did an un-requested full wipe? Why would this happen? the Vodafone stuff has all gone, but so have all the apps etc. Trying to re-load Titanium to re-install backup, but Google Play says its incompatible with the phone?

Welcome aboard. Hopefully you'll get the best help here on the forums. I've move your thread to its area of support. :)

It's a known problem with the G300.

Thanks for moving the post to the right place!

...I managed to find and earlier version of Titanium which I loaded and then used the Titanium back-up to restore everything on the phone. I had restore each app one-by-one, but now all back to normal.

I did another full back-up and then today the phone did the same full -wipe again, back to the bottom of the hill !!! :((

De@n, thanks for your comment, you mentioned its a known problem. Is there a fix?

I had the same problem with my first G300 and got a replacement. Put all my apps on it etc this morning and as soon as I was done, it reset itself. Not to happy.

brutal.. so the cellular company just deletes everything randomly if you don't keep their spamware installed, or what?

No, it just sounds like his handset crashed.... in a big way... nothing to do with the network provider at all.. (apart from the fact its a vodafone branded handset)

Yep, I had this problem too.

I think it has something to do with rooting and uninstalling all the bloatware and spyware. Mine kept wiping and eventually wouldnt even boot up. I sent it in for repairs and it's fine now. Though they just reinstalled all the bloatware and unrooted it again. I'll just have to put up with it I guess.
