Root Huawei Valiant

I have the Vitria(the device that launched alongside the vailant) and you can root it with adb, after a restore I was also able to root with srsroot.

try srsroot if you have the vailant

I rooted my Valiant but hit the UNROOT DEVICE button by accident on 1 of my apps. I dont remember how I got rooted but I'll retrace my steps since I need rooted again anyway. I'll let u know

I don't see what's so bad about this phone. It cost me $30 new, I was able to chop $15 off of my monthly 4G plan and not only get faster 3G data, but way better service coverage with GSM plan. 360 degree win for me.

I guess if you are using this phone as an interim while seeking out another GS3 its gonna be a POS; it's a godsend if you had an assh*le of a Premia like mine. The bloatware on this phone is far less invasive than any other Metro phone I've owned, couldn't care any less about rooting. Works fine OTB :D

Its a decent handset, that's for sure.

My gf actually had hers run over by a tractor trailer at about 20 mph. (Lorry, if you're in the uk) and its still working with a spiderwebbed screen.

Hi all,

I did try this and it worked. I am a noob and I played around. Here is what I did,

1) Go to Valiant ---Settings --Developer Options ---CHECK USB debugging.

2) Download Impactor for windows, mac or linux.

3) Connect phone to pc

4) Run Impactor - click Start at the first option (# drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su)

5) Your phone screen should flicker (know not what exactly happened)

6)Your phone is rooted! {I checked with rootchecker - Success}

Later installed Titanium and SuperSU - works.

Any roms that work?

Hey since you guys found a root, do yourselves a favor. Noobies especially beware:

Before going crazy removing files, be sure to make a backup of ANY and ALL files you delete, including bloat!!! And be very careful when deleting anything in general, as stock recovery on our phones WILL NOT restore any files you delete, it only wipes data on files that are already there.

For an example:

Let's say you use a file explorer with root access to try removing bloatware. You delete some seemingly useless file: e.g. Huawei theme file, and snap! Phone freezes up, you try rebooting and nothing. You try a factory reset, still won't work. You're bricked as well as screwed! But.....

If you have a backup of that deleted file that bricked your phone, chances are you can flash it through ADB, and a good chance you're up and running again.

This goes for not just removing bloatware, but also for changing prop files or basically altering any part of the phone file system you didn't have access to before rooting.

So just be really careful until full CWM backups can be made. At the very least, do a full system dump so that any files you tinkered with can be recovered. In my experiences with 3 Huawei phones, they're very temperamental, don't like being played with and will soft brick if you even look at them funny. Just thought I'd pass that friendly reminder along, and hopefully save a few of you from disaster LOL ;)

EDIT-----

Oh, one more thing. If anybody that is now rooted could kindly do a recovery file dump, we could send an SOS to the OUD hit squad and maybe get some help with CWM :D

Thanks Spec2nirvash,

Good reminder/warning for noobs (including me).

However I did use Titanium backup - did back up some exclusive metro apps like Metro Block it, MetroPCS screen, My extras, mymetro, Visual voicemail.

I did uninstall later using the same (titanium ....).

I did reboot.

No changes to the worse, neither improve. Wish I could find the app hogging my battery life.

I will wait further for any "Android Boss" to have a say or develop roms.

HEY FIRST POST BUT STILL NO ROMS YET
I TRIED THIS METHED BELLOW BUT IT DIDNT
WORK FOR SO ME SO I TRIED THIS ONE AND CHOOSE OPTION 3
WORKED GREAT ;)
Root with Restore by_Bin4ry

Can anyone send me a backup of the stock firmware? I forgot to backup. I edited the build.prop and now it stuck at huawei logo and won't booting pass it.

Thank you.

Hopefully soon...once I can get my laptop to cooperate. I am going to attempt to build CWM and/or TWRP. TWRP seems easier but CWM is more widely accepted so we will see. Hopefully these will also come with the respective ROM's (CyanogenMod and Omni respectively), but I am not making any promises. I am however going to be making a Valiant Toolkit in the coming weeks. Once I can step through Impactor and DC-Unlockr.
