Help Huge Data Usage! Android OS Background. New Record?

I think I have a new record for unexplained data downloads. Between midnight and 7am this morning Android OS background downloaded 2.34GB of data, half my monthly 5GB limit.

I guess 4G really has improved download speed ;-)

Seriously, here's a screenshot of the usage from midnight last night

And the last month for comparison

So here is the question,
"What can I use to monitor data usage going forward so I know exactly which process is downloading these huge files?"

Unless anyone knows how I can get more information from some log somewhere?

The fix for Android OS's strange, abnormally high data usage may be fixed by heading to your Google Settings app, Security, and turning off the "Improve harmful app detection" checkbox.
