Huge Scare with SD Card

i've been freaking out the last few days because after i took a picture with my evo, suddenly my phone said my sd card was damaged. i've been trying to recover it and nothing worked. today my computer stopped reading the card completely. after a few hours of messing around with it, right before i was about to format it, i went to my gallery and my pictures were there. now my computer is reading it, so i'm copying the files then i'm gonna format the card.

anyone know why this happened? it's weird that it's been messed up for so long but then it just suddenly started working. i had pictures and videos of the day my son was born and thought i lost it. i definitely don't want it to happen again. should i get a new card?
 
Sometimes SD cards go bad. Or It might be the card is just not making good contact in the socket. Remove and re-seat it before you format and use it again. If it ever does anything the least bit flakey again, trash it! Only buy good name cards from reputable sellers.

Always, always have backups of critical files! I keep multiple backups, including online backups. For example, I have my phone setup to automatically send immediate backups of photos and videos to my Dropbox. My house could burn down and I'd still have all my important files.
 
Just my personal thought...I would not even try reforming the card. Since your were lucky to be able to get the pictures off the card, I would just replace it with a new SD card.

I personally would not chance it
