I am completely screwed.

So last night my wife asked me if she could simply back my car out of a stall and pull up to the building where I work. She backed the car out and I told her to pull back ahead because a car was coming down the road and she freaked out and put it in drive and slammed on the gas and smashed my car into one of the van's the company I work for owns. I now have no car and no job, plus I have to pay for both vehicles to be fixed. Pretty tough without a job. We were barely making ends meet as it was and now I really don't know what is going to happen. I can't get a job because I have no car and I can't fix my car because I have no job.

Sorry to see such a thing happen, landovr.

I'm wondering if you can go to your (former) employer and explain, laced with apologies, your situation and how dedicated you are to them, etc.

That would be my first try, then I'd just set out to find employment elsewhere so I could keep paychecks coming.

is your wife listed as a driver on the insurance? if so cant you file an insurance claim that way, and then your company doesnt really have a right to fire you over that since you werent driving nor did you need to be (i may be all wrong about this too)

I am trying to understand this situation. Were you fired over this? This is unclear to me. Seems a little silly to be fired over something as minor as this, although I have heard of people being fired for less I guess. I suppose your best option is to talk it through with your employer and hope for understanding.

EDIT: Rereading this, was the vehicle your wife drove into the company vehicle YOUR PERSONAL VEHICLE or was it the company vehicle. This is also unclear to me. If it was your personal vehicle, it seems even more ridiculous to fire you over an accident caused by your wife IMO.
