I can't delete photos

Hi. I need to delete some photos from my 16gb Galaxy Tab A (version 8.1). Instructions say to select the ones I want to remove, click the three dots in the upper right corner and select "Delete from Device". However, when I click the three dots, the only option I get is "Move to Archive". Am I doing something wrong?

Open your gallery app and choose delete or remove

Tick the photos you want to remove in the Gallery app. Then choose the delete option. Viola

Unfortunately the Gallery shows No Files. I keep getting messages saying I have insufficient storage to do anything. I uninstalled a few apps but I keep getting the same message. I suspect there's a bigger problem here but I can't figure it out.

I get no delete option when I select pictures.

Try using the file manager instead of the gallery app? That should delete anything, as long as it's not read only.

what about connecting your phone to your pc?

also i would look into using google photos. it will automatically upload your photos to the cloud. this way you do not have to worry about backing up your photos, or running out of room on your phone or sd card.
