I'm sorry that you're having issues with your Atrix but you not getting 'anything to work' does not mean that the Atrix is a 'piece of shit'.
So you're trying to update to Gingerbread? Are you signed into Motoblur? My phone won't allow me to update to the newest firmware if I'm not signed into Motoblur.

Also, make sure you are not rooted and running a STOCK version of the OS (Not modified in any way).
People have problems understanding that, if you want an OEM update, you have to be running an OEM rom.
