Root I can't root my Galaxy S5

I have been trying for a long time to root my S5 but I can't seem to find a method that works or that has files that work on my mac. Also I was wondering if I could root my cellphone even if it is running on lollipop. If anyone could help me I would be forever thankful.;)

phone details:
Model number: SM-G900H
Android version: 5.0
Baseband version: G900HXXU1BOE1
KNOX: 2.3

Not sure about using a Mac, but this is how I rooted mine.

I just rooted my S5. I have the SM-G900P from Boost Mobile, so not sure if this works on the H model.
Boot into download mode on phone.
I used the Odin3 v1.85 on Windows PC to load Philz Touch Recovery. Do not have Odin3 reboot automatically, took a few times to figure that out, it will only reboot to the manufacturer recovery and ignore the new recovery.
Manually shutdown and reboot to recovery and it should go into Philz Touch.
I moved CM12.1 nightly zip file and OpenGapps zip file to phone with the normal windows file manager.I did not have the sdcard in when I did this, as I wanted everything in on board memory.
Then installed from zip in Philz Touch. Reboot and ready.
Still fine tuning some things, but I always feel safer running a ROM not controlled by the company.
I'll check back on this post to see if it worked.
post any questions and I'll see if I can help.
