Help I don't know how to backup my phone :(

I'm having a new s3 shipped to me today because mine (I have owned it for 20 days) won't take a charge. I have no idea how to backup my contacts, pics, etc. Help? I found the Backup Assistant and backing up contacts seems easy enough but what about the rest? What am I going to lose once I transfer cards to new phone? Thank you!

Contacts should be google contacts which are backed up automatically shouldn't they?

Just plug your phone into your computer in MTP mode and copy all your pics across.
