Help I dont know how to connect my phone to the internet without a wireless..

I have O2 free text and web for a month but the only time I can connect is at home using my wireless router, I really dont know how to use this 3g thing?
Please explain without being rude, I know Im probably sounding like a dumbass right now but I dont really know much about technology so help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forums... I'm not too familiar with your phone, but I'll try to help.

Your phone, in theory, should automatically connect to the 3G network when not in range of your wireless router.(or any their router you've set it up to use).
If you aren't able to get out to the Internet when not in range of your wifi router, you will want to make sure you have mobile data turned on (would be in phone settings somewhere). You should also notice a 3G icon in the notification area of your phone(around where the signal bars/clock are).

You may also need to get your internet settings working on the handset before you are able to make use of this function:

Main Menu > Settings > Sony Ericsson > Internet Settings Download > Select you network and wait a minute or two. Now you internet should be working.
