Root I finally rooted!

Night735

Newbie
I am now (finally) rooted with s-off :)
Quick question for you clever folks..

I have ran nandroid backup on both my goldcard and normal card.
I want to start trying different ROMs but a little concerned about the 'radio thing' im on radio 5.09.05.30.2

1. Am i safe to start instaling new roms
2. If something dont work, can i just use nandroid backup to put me back to current state?

Don worry about the radio. Ken Bruce will not be appearing anywhere near your house soon!

Welcome, and... bravo :D (pun)) :D:D:D..get it)? Never mind. :o

1. Yes

2. As long as you remember to wipe before you restore.

Thanks for quick reply and putting my mind at rest!

What would you recommend i try out first? I will probably try a few before restoring all my apps and stuff.

Thanks, ill try Cyanogen 7.0.3 ... i like fast lol
Will be nice to try stock Android instead of Sense!

When i restore apps from Titanium, will passwords be restored too?

So i installed Cyanogen 7.0.3 and all was looking great, apart from i could not access my contacts, even though they are on SIM?
I kind of freaked out for a min, then done a recovery.
Am i missing something guys? Im liking the new ROM's but CANNOT do without my contact list lol

After some playing, im running on Oxygen v2.1.4 (Latest gingerbread, clean & simple) (GSM & CDMA)

My Desire now feels like it should! Super fast, clean and stock android.
I cant believe how crap Sense is?
I just need to remember to install alarm app before Monday lmao.. ;)

Will my battery be much better now??

Yes, it most certainly will! I recommend looking into SetCPU, and Tasker for even better battery life. I'm running the CDMA version, and get about 16 hours light-medium use.

@Night735,
I'd suggest you to sync your contacts with Google. Then whenever you change a ROM, your contacts are auto sync back to your phone as soon as you login to Google.

Yes, there are many of us who appreciate the clean UI and performance ROMs. Sense UIs are too bloated for my taste.

Go into the contacts app and check "display options" - click on your Google account & there will be check boxes for groups of contacts. Tick them all and then see whether you can see them.

There may be other options to check it shows SIM contacts (I normally want to hide these), but that thing above has caught me out more than once.
