Help I hate kies

what the hell is it with KIES, I have to reinstall it everytime I want to use it, and having just done that it refuses to find my phone!!!
 
Hey man, close Kies, then run as Administrator I had the same problem, still no update for 02 though, got my hopes up from the Kies update lol
 
I had just put in an update, made no difference. Will run it as you say, or try to, later on

I have kies on my XP laptop and Windows 7 PC no problems exceptp a couple of i time i have don any updates that effect the USB settings all this needed was a reboot on PC
I have just updated Kies today and with my phone connected and when it finished it would not see Phone2
As when i looked my phone was not seen on windows as a device
Reboot PC and everything works OK,
Before you run Kies make sure your PC sees the phone I think you have a USB issue.

Ps Have your pc can see the phone ask Kies to reinstall drivers in the connect menu
 
I upgraded Kies, no joy. Deleted Kies and reinstalled, no joy. I rebooted pc at least three times, no joy. I unplugged phone and replugged it in a hundred times - no joy.

I have just plugged it in now to see if Kies opens up ............. No response

Now going to plug phone into laptop also with kies in but also on win 7 ........ nothing

Why do you need Kies so bad??...
Its a crap software....whatever you want from it, there are better alternatives available on the net.
 
as a new to android user, I do not know of alternatives, yet. Maybe it would be a good idea to throw a few up here for the masses.
 
You can use MyPhoneExplorer instead of Kies, it does everything except upgrading firmware and accessing the default samsung apps.

I personally never needed this software, all i needed of Kies was usb tethering, and that can be done even without Kies, i just installed samsung drivers separately. As for backing up my data, i sync with google and use My Bakup Pro app.
 
Use Odin for upgrading/flashing. Kies is unstable and crashes a lot (you wouldn't want that to happen during a firmware update now would you?!)
