I have a Launcher question (ADW vs LauncherPro)

I was recently forced to do a full factory reset of my Incredible (long story) and figured I might as well go ahead an root / flash a custom ROM since I now had to reinstall all my apps anyway.

So I tried a Cryanogen ROM and liked it, except that is used ADW launcher, so I flashed back to stock. So now I am going through and adding / removing items from that to make one I like.

My question is really about Launcher Pro. I had it before my reset, and really like it. But, one thing that I LOVE about ADW is the simple ability to change the icons on the home screens.

I know I can change the dock icons on Launcher Pro, but is it possible to change the actual app icons?

Also, on ADW, can you use dock backgrounds like the can on Launcher Pro?

Well I know there is an app called droid vizulaizer that can chage the icons of the app you have on you home screen.

Not sure its been a while since I used ADW but I believe you canchange your dock back ground.

also another home launcher to try is GoLauncher EX its pretty nice it is currently what I'm using.

I presume you're asking about changing icons / programs on the dock, right? If so, just click / hold and it'll pull a menu up asking if you want to change the program, icon or swipe action.

I am a LauncherPro+ user, and as far as I know LP+ does not have an option for changing the icons of homescreen shortcuts. I use LauncherPro+ combined with Folder Organizer. That gives me all the stuff I like about LP+, plus the ability to change icons to whatever I want. Also folder organizer has cool folders.

I ditched CM7 for the same reason. I went with OMGB instead, and I am loving it. It doesn't have any aftermarket launchers preloaded.

If you liked CM7, you dont have to use ADW. You can use any launcher with it.

I know, but if I'm not gonna use it I don't want it on there at all using resources.
And I didn't see anyway to uninstall it.

I like OMGB better for other reasons as well. It's much more vanilla.

Add the application to your home screen
The last stop asking to okay
Touch the icon

Am I to understand you are saying you can change the home screen app icons on LP+? I know you can do this with the dock icons, but I wasn't aware you could on the home screen icons.

Anyone know why I can't open launcherpro with CM7? It doesn't even appear in my app list.

It doesn't appear as an app (if you're talking the app tray). When you press the home button on the face of the phone initially, it should give you the option of which launcher to use. That's where you choose LP and check the box to always use it as your launcher. If it's using another, like ADW, go to that app and clear defaults, then press the home button again so you're given the option again to select your launcher of choice.

I had it already set to automatically run the other one. I cleared it out and now all is well! Good to have my widgets back.

With Launcher Pro Plus, you can download ADW themes and use their icon packs.

After you download and install the theme:
Preferences--->Theme Settings---->Icon Pack
