Thanks for your answer I have heard that this app crashes quite a bit has it been ok for you? I use divx encoded avi's on my ps3 and don't want to re-encode them all .

Although I do not own the asus yet I have read it will charge off a pc usb as long as it's turned off.

Rockplayer has seemed fine to me, not experienced any crashes - yes, the Transformer is charging slowly from a USB charger (using a high power 2A iPad one!)
 
I want to know if there is going to be a 40 pin to usb (host) to connect USB devices to the Tablet without the Dock. The USB connector that comes with the charger. is it client only?

I highly doubt it. The 40 pin is for docking, charging, and data transfer i believe.

The keyboard dock has USB on it and connects to the system via the 40 pin connector so either the USB host adapter is in the tablet or in the dock. Which means at some point a pinout of the connector will allow for a USB connector or host adapter and connector. I just don't want to have to be the one to figure it out =]

Then that means you wouldn't have to pay for their dock. They aren't trying to save you money.
 
If anyone has the keyboard could they please answer some questions?

1. Can the usb slot be used for storage?
2. Can you plug into a printer and print using the document software?

I just got a 32G version of the Asus Transformer. When I plugged in to charge the unit, I did not see any blinking light or icon to indicate that it is being charged. Is this normal? Then, after a few hours, I noticed that the battery indicator was not changed, so I plugged it in to a USB port on my PC instead and after several hours, the battery indicator was changed, so I think the power supply might be faulty. Can someone tell me if when you plug in to charge, did you see anything to indicate that it is charging? How long will it take to charge the unit? - RJ
 
I don't think there's a visual indicator showing charging, but equally I din't have a problem with the power supply. First time out you should charge for 8hrs / overnight if you can...
 
Looks like Asus recommends a full charge of the tablet before 1st use, yes?

Additionally, I've read that some people recommend doing a couple full drains of the battery, followed by full recharges to calibrate the battery. Did you guys do this?

I put mine on the charger and played with it for about an hour and a half, then turned it off and let it charge for 8 hours that night. Going to drain it full the first time and do a full recharge though.
 
Got a quick question. I just purchased my transformer yesterday, but I can't find the My Cloud application. Do I have to download it somehow? It ran an update, but still no luck
 
Can anyone give me a clear answer if this is better than XOOM? I'm going to the shop 3 times but cant make the decision. Money is not a problem because xoom is 40 quid more in the shop.

The Transformer feels and looks better, I think. The keyboard would have sold me had the aforementioned items been the same in the two, though.

Price is also 50% higher for the Xoom in Canada.

Xoom had a flash on the back, though, which the Transformer does not...not a big deal, but curious, as it costs next to nothing, I think, to put one in it.

ASUS Transformer has much better screen than Xoom. IPS technology with wide viewing angles (same as in iPads) plus scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass.
 
Better in what way? I can't stand the xoom screen; prefer the acer or transformer. However there are other considerations (wifi ant. gps ant, usb ports, build quality, battery life, ...). What's important to you ?

just got my transformer yesterday and thought I was having charging problems also. But then noticed that the "overly complex" charger wasn't snapped in all the way. Be sure and snap the 2 parts of the charger all the way closed so that they are flush with each other. Once I had the pieces snapped flush together it started charging with no problems and you will see "Charging 31%" on the screen (I just used 31% as an example yours may be a different percentage).
 
As far as is Xoom better than Transformer well I've only had mine for a day and don't have experience with Xoom so can't compare. But what I can tell you is that its kind of scary seeing build quality of the TF compared to iPad. It scares me when I see posts on these forums saying things like "can't get my TF to power up".

When I initially had problems with the clunky/complex charger that comes with the TF (see above post) I googled the following "asus transformer battery not charging" and there are plenty of links of folks saying that the charger for their asus notebooks stopped working after a year or so. Stuff like that scares me. I'm sure the iPad forums have posts of folks having issues also so its hard to say. But seriously though the design of the charger is very weird to me. Guess maybe its designed to work with both Korean and US outlets maybe - just a guess. Best advice I can offer is google the product, try to get a sense of the degree of severity for any problems users are experiencing and make your best call with the info you have.

Blackberries use a similar design for the charger, where you can snap in the appropriate country's plug style, and those work pretty well. That being said, I had to bend one of the pins away from the charging block so that it would click into place-it was jamming and not letting me put it all the way in. All ok since then.

By the way, using an extension USB cord with it does NOT work. won't charge if you do. Unfortunately, the cord that comes with it is on the short side, in my opinion.
 
Somehow the charger that came with the Transformer was faulty. It was hard for me to snap the two pieces together but I was able to do so by force. When I tried to charge my Transformer, it wouldn't do anything. I plugged in a USB light to the charger and the light did not come on. I let the Transformer connected to the charger overnight and the battery indicator did not change. The Transformer was able to be charged by connecting to a USB port on a PC or plugging it to an iPad charger. Unfortunately, the charging time was very long. I disconnected the two pieces of the charger (very difficult to do). Then, I tried to put them together again but there was no luck. It still did not charge the transformer.

I called Asus and they told me to send the charger to them, so I did. Somehow I don't think that it will be returned soon and there is no way to buy a charger from any places. Does anyone know a USB charger that will provide 15V and 1.2Amp or something closer to that? An iPad charger can provide only 5V but with 2.1Amp (I think) but it takes many hours before the Transformer will be fully charged.

Im having an issue with some apps -the screen will go black when switching to portrait. For example dropbox does this, considering returning it. Anyone else see this issue?
