I have two questions that I need help answering

Mecha105

Lurker
First, I noticed that the LG Motion says it supports LTE, but I noticed that I've never gotten the symbol, I only get 4G. It's slow as hell most of the time, but it's MetroPCS so I'm not surprised. Is it just implied that I'm on a LTE signal or do I need to get some sort of update?

Secondly, with the merger to T-Mobile and the expansion into their towers, would I currently get any actual benefit from it considering it's a GSM signal (which I assume wouldn't work for my phone) or do I actually have to get a new phone from MetroPCS that's designed to benefit from GSM and HSPA+ signals?

With metro, 4G is LTE. You can always go into system settings/about phone/status and look for mobile network type. It should say LTE:14. But, with metro and the motion, that is all you will get, is LTE.

just Metro LTE AFTER 2015 (or there abouts) when the turn off CDMA.

Your Motion will work fine until then.

To try another part of your question, Metro and T-Mo are combining networks as we type. They are bragging on how fast they are accomplishing this and to me, doing that in a public press release would have me think they're at least half way done, maybe more. After this refarming is done, it is Probable that your Metro signal will be better than what you have now. They have said that's the case anyway.

If I were just considering leaving Metro for a signal reason, I'd probably hold off another month to 6 weeks. I'd think most if not all the refarming would be done by then. Then base your leave or stay on your signal then.
