I was wondering since I haven't got the froyo update and don't want it since I like the way my Sammy is working and hear too many issues occurring. Call me naive but I think we will get gingerbread sooner than we did froyo. I will wait for it. However if we do, can I go from 2.1 now to gingerbread without the froyo update or must I eventually download it to get updated to the 2.3 gingerbread. Thanks for everyone's help and interaction on this forum. Cheers.
 
I believe the updates are incremental so you would need to download froyo and then the small update that was just relelased before you could update to Gingerbread. That's just what I have experienced myself with other phones.
