I like it, but...

I had a Revolution previously, and liked it. Thought the Spectrum should be much improved, but I have a couple of disappointments.

1. Unlike the Revolution, the Spectrum has no Notification LED. Really LG? This is a really useful feature and without it you're forced to wake up the phone to see if you've missed anything rather than telling at a glance. I can't forgive them for this.

2. Can't someone with a little imagination design an extended battery that doesn't look and feel tacked on? (The one for the Nexus is practically undetectable.)

Overall, the phone works very well, but the lack of a Notification LED is almost enough to make me go back to my Revolution.

EDIT: As of 1/25, I'm testing an app called "NoLED" which the developer says he created for the Samsung Galaxy S that doesn't have an LED either. It created visual icons on the screen for the various notifications and can add vib and audio as well. There are a few limitations, but it seems pretty good so far. I'll give it a fair eval and see how I like it.

How's signal reception on 3G, 4G, data hand-off and call quality and also battery life? I think this is the most underrated, ignored phone on VZW now.

@jinwons: i've had the spectrum since the day it launched and i have had no problems with the signal and as far as i can tell it has stayed in 4g since i got it.

I have a question. Does the Spectrum require an unusually long amount of time to charge its battery? One reviewer said this was the case. My Droid Incredible charges fully in couple of hours. Thanks.

Switch to the Spectrum from an unrooted Ally this past saturday. I love the Spectrum so far. The signal is good, the 3 g is good. No 4g in my immediate area yet, so i need to get into a 4g area to play with that still. call quality is good, although the speaker in the earpiece does require rather exact positioning. Charge time on the battery is fairly quick, especially if you disable the live wall papers during charging. Battery life thus far has been pretty good, making it a whole day on a single charge. I also downloaded the 'NOLED' which i have since stopped using. The app works great for notification, but drains the piss out of the battery. I lost 25% yesterday in the matter of an hour while it had a missed call notification. I tured it off today, its 9:20am and my phone is still at 100% with minimal use ( about 5 minutes of facebook and a couple time checks), i unplugged it from the charger at 7am. Thus far though i havent found anything to make me regret the pruchase. I extremely happy i picked this phone over the iphone.

Hi,
I am new to andorid (just switched from blackberry). I have an LG spectrum on Verizon because I wanted the 4G network. I have noticed that I don't have a new voicemail icon in the staus bar. Is there a way to fix this? I belive my phone has gingerbread.
Thanks,
Tina

It seems that the biggest complain on Spectrum is lags on UI. Has anyone tried launcher like LP, Go? Isn't that enough cure for that?

I had play with demo one again yesterday at VZW store. It felt snappier than before, nearly on par with Rezound next to it. But I noticed that browsing this phandroid site was painfully laggy and sluggish. Strangely browsing other sites was fine. Has anyone noticed any issue on browsing with Spectrum?

I've had the phone for a week now and I really like the device, with the 4gLTE and all the features on, the battery didn't last at all, but once I turned off several of the features that I don't need running while I'm at work, dramaticlly made my battery last all day long for me. The HD display is awesome!

I am using dolphin hd, and I thought it was Swype... It seems to be about 800ms behind me most of the time; however if I get on a roll with Swype, it can get backed up as far as 2 seconds of lag. Well try ADW our something else after I go to Verizon tomorrow to complain about the price. Amazon has it for $59 for new accounts, and I traded my HTC Evo hour the spectrum.

Update...
I started using tapatalk got forums and there is no longer a lag issue that I have noticed although Swype really sucks at detecting my words. Back before version 2 on the betas, it worked fantastic, now... Not so much

Which features did you turn off and how do you turn them off ?

FWIW, I've been using a newly purchased Spectrum for about a week now, and with JuiceDefender, default settings, once enabled extends the phone's run time on battery immensely.
