Help I love this phone but...................

I love this phone, it runs smoother and faster than my X did and I really like Sense however once in a while the text messaging will really lag bad, the keyboard will lag horribly and the only way to fix it is pulling the battery.

It doesn't happen too often but it's happened enough times in the the two weeks that I've had it to annoy me.

Any ideas of how to prevent this? I am using the stock text messaging app. I didn't install any launchers and don't have a ton of apps on the phone.

How bad is bad? My text app lags slightly, but it's usually less than a second at a time. I actually haven't been using the text app much anymore because gtalk is so much easier. I'm using both ADWLauncher and GO Launcher EX and my lag is minimal.
I agree about the phone being way better than the X, though. I was so frustrated with my old phone.

When it happens it's really bad like you go to type a name or number and it gets hung up, could take 20-30 seconds to register on the phone and thats for each letter and number. The only way out is to do a battery pull and thats annoying.

You think it's the app and not the keyboard?

I can't tell which is causing the problem

Not sure ... But you need to start removing potential problems. Try a different app and if the problem stops you have a cure ... if it doesn't stop you know its not the app ... Then try a different keyboard.

I've had that issue happen before on my original Incredible. I think it was something to do with all the sense add-ons, and the SMS app. Typing a lot in another application didn't produce the same result.

I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 now though and it keeps my Incredible (1) enjoyable still.

Sent from my HTC Incredible.

GO SMS hasn't let me down at all. I'm so happy with GO and their products I've installed their launcher and weather app also.

There's a ton of customizable options, themes, and features.

I was having this problem as well, and figured out that Swype was the culprit.

They just released a new version, and since I upgraded, the lag issue has disappeared. And so far the new Swype is working better as well.

Oh? Where do I find this new version? Do you know if it fixes the double letter and not saving words issues?

I use Handcent and the SwiftKey keyboard. I used these on my X and now on the DINC2. This combo is smooth for me.

another vote for GO SMS! Its faster and more feature packed (at least to me) than any other messaging app. I love it.
