I might be crazy

Am I nuts for considering getting a Maxx from my Rezound, mainly for the battery and that it's on sale for $100? I'm upgradeable anytime.

I would miss screenshots without rooting. I would miss the sleek back of my phone when I had the standard battery and gel cover on, though I rarely use it since it doesn't last long and used the extended battery. I would miss my beautiful screen!

However, signing another 2 years of unlimited data may or may not be worth it. The price should be low enough to avoid selling my Rezound.

I probably should wait for something better to come out, right? Please give me the Maxx battery in the body of my Rezound when it's not a brick!

My top used apps are:
Go SMS Pro
Facebook
Instagram
Draw Something
Phandroid
QuickPic
Yahoo and Gmail
Pandora
I love taking pictures too!

Maybe saying that helps?

It's up to me, but help me think of things I'm missing here!

Having owned the Rezound, Galaxy Nexus iPhone 4s, and the MAXX over last several months, I can say without hesitation that I believe the MAXX is the best of the bunch. It's the most stable Android phone I've ever had (and I've a lot), it has the best reception of them all, and of course, it has that amazing battery.

That said, the Rezound would take the second place spot behind the MAXX for me. It's a great device. It has a much better camera than the MAXX. The camera on the MAXX is good, but the camera on the Rezound is noticeably better. The Rezound also has a higher resolution screen (Although I must say, in regular, everyday use, the MAXX screen is well above average. I haven't missed the screen on the Rezound or the Galaxy Nexus once since switching to the MAXX full time). Beyond those two things, the MAXX has the Rezound beat as an overall device in my opinion.

Everything you listed will work fine on the MAXX. You won't have any problems with those apps. As far as something else better coming, the RAZR HD is rumored to be coming at some point in the near future, which is supposed to have a HD screen and a better camera. But nothing is known about it beyond rumors, and there's no telling when it will actually be released. It's also looking like Verizon will be getting a version of the Galaxy SIII from Samsung. There aren't too many HTC rumors around, and most of the ones I've seen point to fall or winter for some of their bigger Verizon releases. And with the exception of the RAZR HD, none of those are rumored to be carrying a beastly battery like the MAXX has. In my opinion, after having had the MAXX, that's now a deal-breaker for me. Motorola has proven that you can pack a high capacity battery in a slim form factor that's far from the brick that extended batteries tend to turn the phone into. And even then, there aren't any OEM extended batteries out there that have the power that the MAXX battery has (third party extended batteries always fall short of their claimed mAh).

I think the MAXX is definitely the better device. That said, if taking pictures is a huge part of what you do with your phone, the Rezound is noticeably better than the MAXX in that regard. Honestly, if I were you, I'd hold onto the Rezound and see what surfaces over the next month or two on the RAZR HD. It might be exactly what you're wanting. And if it doesn't look like the RAZR HD will be coming out before Verizon starts messing with unlimited data when renewing a contract, just go pick up a MAXX. It will still be around.

Thanks! Well I don't take pictures constantly, but I do love my camera. I just don't see having $200-$300 without selling my Rezound, and it sounds like a hassle to make sure I get my personal info off and making sure it's not some random weirdo and all that junk. A sale like that is attractive to me, but I don't wanna be stuck with 2011 technology for 2 years either. Why can't they friggin tell us the date when we would lose the unlimited already!

Probably because what was said about unlimited data going away wasn't an official announcement. It was said by an executive in an interview prematurely.

And it seems that unlimited isn't completely going away. From all of the speculation and statements, it appears that at some point in the future, Verizon will stop allowing grandfathered unlimited data on contract renewals. So, if you don't renew your contract after it's up, you can keep unlimited data and just pay month-to-month. In that instance, nothing is stopping you from buying a new phone at full retail or a used one online and keeping the unlimited data.

The upgrade to ICS which comes within a month*fingers crossed* will allow you to take screenshots with the pwr and Vol- buttons. No root required. If you are holding out for a quad core phone that is one thing but this phone is the best out right now. Period.

If they will just come out and say "customers who want to keep unlimited data must upgrade by (insert date here), or pay full price for a phone anytime after in order to do so."

We all are dying to know how long we have. The Dinc4G looks good as long as the smaller screen is ok with me. Can't wait to try it!
