Ya know I have no idea why all of you are having so many problems with this phone... My wife and I have had ours since early January... Had rooted and installed CWM in them within hours of receiving the phones... :D What I am really getting at I guess is that I got the OTA update on a stock rom and have had ROOT and CWM during the whole process... I was a little leary of the OTA update because I thought I might lose Root or get bricked... But knock on wood everything seems fine... Even the screen issue is better... But not totally fixed...

I am going to flash the (Boost) 2.3.6 Update w/Bobzhome Kernel as soon as it finishes downloading on my friggin stock 3G  (Lags my xbox360 MW3:rolleyes:) I will reply to this thread and update you on my progress...

:D Loving the OC!!! Phone is way snappier than usual... I am going to play around with the settings... Any suggestions on which i/o to use?? I am trying the noop right now...on demand... 64 min and 2016 max.. Hehe.. Pushing the TU to way beyond it's limits!!! We'll see what happens...

I wouldn't suggest those min/Max settings. Anytime I've set my min below 245, I've had problems getting the phone to wake up. I usually don't go much over 1401 for my Max settings.

ChoznJuan, I will definately heed the warning for sure! So far no problems waking the phone... Although it is on the charger because I'm using FoxFi to get internet to my computer... I'll for sure let u know what happens in the following hours and days... If anything happens I will report it here... I have insurance so if something does happen and it fries, I'll just tell em I dropped it in a lake lmbo!:D

Here's my most recent speedtest for 3G... It must be McDonalds cuz I'm Lovin it!!! ;)

Well again no problems on the FC29 baseband update.. Followed the instructions that were given and nothing going wrong... Only 2 issues, the FC on the about phone/status page... Not too worried about that considering I don't use that page for anything right now, and it seems the 3G speed has suffered tremendously... I was getting 2Mbs but now getting only 1Mbs... :( Might be going back to the old baseband...

Other than that phone is still really snappy.. Lovin it!!! Absolutely lovin it!!!:D:D:D

I am definately going to update my wife's phone to the faster kernel and give it a different rom.. She's using StarSCRom... Gonna change hers back to stock rom and then do the same that I did for mine... Might try Chevron's rom.. ;o)

Thanks to all that have worked on this phone! This incredible stuff would not be happening for all of us if they weren't curious!

Ok have a call to help... I have your 2.3.6 update with bobzhome kernel and running the xperia launcher... Problem is, made a backup with cwm thinking I could save all the user data this way and put it back in with an advanced restore... Well guess I was wrong... I get part way through the data restore and phone reboots with no warning... Dunno what might be going on... Did a factory wipe right after restoring your backup... Cache wipe, dalvik, even fixed permissions... Clicked power off... Then booted into the shiny newness... Powered off, boot into CWM and advanced restore... Then restored data... Rebooted half or so way through and her text messages are there but no apps and no accounts or anything else... No contacts blah blah... So... What do u think might be causing this??

Sincerely,
:confused:Confused in the Hood!

TIA

Could be the recovery issue this phone has with rebooting every 2 mins. Try doing a backup again before you restore. This should disable the 2 min timer to reboot and allow you to restore data from the file you intended... to explain this better you are engaging the phone in a process that will cause it to disable its 2 minute reboot timer so don't restart the phone after the backup because then the timer will start again just back up and then restore the data you wanted to.

Ok Loota, I did this and it went exactly as you said it would... Data finished finally!! And now my wife is happy she didn't lose her game data.. She was very  at me before your post wanting to :pound: me now she is :D She gave me a big middle finger and a F Off before i read this post... Now she wants me to tell you big big thanks!! :shakehands: You've saved the day again Loota!! LOL!!

Sincerely,
:smokin:Zintus

:banghead: Why do they have to make things more difficult than they already are???

I tried to change the boot animation... Nope the bootanimation.zip file is nowhere to be found... So how do I change something that just simply put isn't there?? I saw in your post about your bootanimations that penguinrepair found it in the init.rc file... I searched for the code he posted.. Not there!!! Eeek.. I think she's going to slap me LoL!! I can fix it if I'm told how... If anyone out there is reading these besides Loota and ChozenJuan that can help... It would be very much appreciated!!

TIA

Sincerely :questionmark::questionmark::questionmark::questionmark::questionmark:

those azzwipes @ sprint seem to have disabled that ish bro idk how to do it anymore either and if u find out let me know lol.

Ok really annoying... I didn't start having problems with my phone until i flashed shevron rom... now flashed back to my backup and having fking problems... Grrrr.. also the 3g will not go green... always stays grayed but, i don't lose data connection whilest on a call which is cool! Anyways.. Just wanted to give a quick update.. And wifi is funky too..

So I need to go odin my phone back to complete stock w/root I would hope :o I already have odin just need images... Downloading will be sluggish I'm sure...

Hopefully you did not fry, or damage, your processor,
64 min and 2016 max.. Hehe..
but you did say you had a plan so you may have to use it.

Personally with even the basic oc settings kept at 245 and 1024 but the governor changed to power saver I would have issues with calls and even screen swiping. (you never told us what governor you used)

Traditionally with overclocking/underclocking you usually go up/down in small increments. When it gets unstable you go back to the last number that worked to minimize possible damage. This is especially true when not changing out the way the processor is cooled.

Now it's hard to say what state your phone is in since you went from stock 2.3.4 root cwm -> stock 2.3.6 root cwm oc -> to unknown shevron # with at least cwm and probably root and most likely kept the oc kernel -> to what you reported should be 100% stock after the download.

The reason I say all this is because without more details we are left to assume what was done and give guesses as to what caused the problem.

Good luck with your phone.

Thanks for your concern... i didnt fry it... i just got the google auth. Error and its all good now thanks to this forum... that was pretth much my route and i didnt keep it at those settings for very long...

I do however use the on demand governer most of the time... i usually keep my phone plugged in while I'm doing anything with my computer connected to it wifi... and use performance gov. To keep it from slowng my 3g....

Thanks for all the help guys... phone is great at the settings 245 min and 1401 max.. ondemand...

Ok so since doing a bunch of crap throughout the phone, im back at stock rooted... although the screen fix was perm after flashing back to stock from shevron rom...

Anyways what i wanted to ask was why is there wimax .bin files in the system/etc folder???
Files are wimax_boot.bin wimaxfw.bin and wimaxloader.bin this looks as though theres a firmware there... how do i install this?!

Thought this phone wasnt capable of 4g... dunno if anyone else seen this but i would really like to access wimax with this phone... since boost has obviously released a 4g phone they now offer the 4g service...

So if any of you would care to work with me on this it would be very much appreciated!

Then why would they include wimax binaries??? I think it is capable... just need to flash the firmware...

I thought the same thing with my Droid3, but with FM radio. There was some file on the phone that made it seem as though FM were availabe, even though every bit of info I could find on the phone suggested that there was no FM hardware.

Could be that when something else got updated, the wimax files were included, the files could be referring to wifi, or perhaps before its release, samsung planned on making the ultra a wimax phone, so they included the files, but then chose not to add the hardware (either due to cost issues, space issues, or both). It could also be that there is another reason that I haven't thought of.

Put simply, if the phone lacks the required hardware, then it doesn't matter what files, apps or firmware get installed, the phone can only work with what it's got. Sorry to burst your bubble. :(
