I need GPS on my tablet..

Hi, maybe its stupid i dont know but...

i have 2 important apps for me on my tablet but they wont work without GPS.... but my tablet doesnt have GPS,, i guess..... so i dont know how this things go on,, can you somehow install GPS or it goes with the tablet when you buy it..??

GPS requires certain hardware which your tablet does not have. You cannot "install" GPS. "GPS" stands for "global positioning system" a technology used in location on a map or geocaching. Used often in navigation and aviation. Also used by apps mainly travel, weather and others to determine your location to display relevant data based on it.

That being said, there is a workaround. Go into settings, location, and check "use wireless networks" and those apps will use your router to find your approximate location

You also buy a GPS antenna dongle and connect it to your tablet via bluetooth.

As a practical matter, if you don't have a GPS receiver chip in your tablet, you can't use GPS apps.

It is a table that just has WIFI and I have a app that Requires GPS location to run.

I think you're pretty much out of luck with that device then, the app won't work.

Google can use WiFi for crude location, but whether the tablet can do that is a different question. If the app requires "fine location" then that requires actual GPS.

Would a External (usb or Bluetooth) GPS device talk to Android OS and let the apps know there is a GPS?
