Help I need help get my volume working On Vzn nexus

Earlier today I got a call and my phone rang but kinda funny. Then when I picked up and answered it we could not hear each other. Well I figured I would reboot phone wait a min or to and try again later. Well my mom called shortly after and all my phone did was vibrate. I answered and neither of us could hear each other.
So I figured I would unroot and go back to stock. Well after a short time it was in factory new but still no sounds nothing even with complete clearing of phone. SOO is there something im doing wrong? is there a way to fix it. Thank you in advance for the helpful replies.

This doesn't sound like the one way audio issue, this sounds like something catastrophic with hardware, both parties couldn't hear anything

Yeah I do not know what is up I am going to go to a Verizon store Monday to see if i can get some help. I forgot to mention this was a replacement phone I got from insurion not to long ago if that matters.
