If you mean unlock as in unlock the bootloader, then that shouldn't be a concern because you can't on the RAZR. Regardless of which version you're on, ICS or JB, rooting the RAZR is pretty simple. Just look up some YouTube vids about how to do it. I would link you the ones I used but don't have time to find them. Just make sure you have up to date Moto drivers installed and the proper files downloaded to your computer based on which root method you use.

If I can I'll link you some stuff later, but odds are someone will beat me to it.

finished root only i need which rom is meant for my phone and can i use rom toolbox

Use safestrap. This is the best method to swap ROMs. If you are on ICS, use SS 3.04, if on JB, use SS 3.11
Since it is unlikely you are on JB without having rooted or done much with it, I would have to assume you are on ICS (android version 4.0.1)
I see you are on Verizon, so you MUST use ROMs that are for the CDMA system, or they will brick your phone.
There are lots of tutorials for Safestrap and for flashing ROMs on this forum, go to the top of this forum and select the process thread you need to learn. Have fun!

how you enable safestrap

download the safestrap app, install it on your phone (assuming you are rooted) it will ask you for root permissions, click yes. Click install recovery. You're pretty much done at that point. Reboot, and there should be a new screen after the red "M" logo, this will be safestrap. If you get that screen, you're set.

I think maybe you need to read some more if you are asking simple questions like this no offense. You actually need to know what you're doing before you attempt anything with your phone.
