Root I Need help! Ultimate noob here!

Can i please have an idiots guide kind of walk-through on flashing my droid back to 2.0.1 and to rooted 2.1? I want to root really bad with out bricking and request help!!

Use the "Now you can live without the fear of bricking" thread first, then use the "Guides to everything root related thread". After that just pick any ROM you want and follow the instructions to install it, try Fabolous' ROM a post or 2 down.

I did everyone on mine, except for the change from 2.1 to 2.0.1, without a computer whatsoever.

AFAIK, you cannot flash .SBF files using Mac.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I wonder if it will work using Boot Camp for windows compatibility? My girlfriend swears that it handles devices and drivers with no problems.

I did all of my flashing with the .sbf from 2.1 to 2.0.1 as well as all of the adb stuff from my windows 7 virtual machine running on my mac in VMWare fusion. So I can confirm that it does work on a virtual machine on a mac.
