Hi, someone rooted my Samsung Epic 4g, it's the one that slides out and has the touch screen. I'm having issues with it and need to take it in to be tested by Sprint and it can't be rooted. Since I didn't root it I have no clue how to unroot it. Please help me, I'd appreciate it.. I know it has clockwork and some other things. I need it back to the way it was when I bought it. Factory.

The easiest way will be to use the Samsung Windows Installed for EB13, you can find it here: Sprint's Samsung Epic 4g Official Froyo EB13 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

Just install the updater & follow the on sreen prompts. It's super easy.

After it is back to stock EB13 then just let it OTA update & you will be fine.

If you want to reroot then just reflash EB13 & one click root under Froyo before it updates to Gingerbread.

Good Luck!!!!!!!

Edit: I forgot to tell you to be sure you do not use the stock Samsung USB cable, buy a good quality MicroUSB cable. They are very cheap.

Majorly outdated.

Majorly outdated.
My warranty expires in the beginning of April. I would like to root but it doesn't seem like the information for the Epic gets updated (youtube videos, etc.). Is there a place to go to get the current information?

Yes, this proceidure is outdated, but this way is almost fool proof & he was asking for a way to get it back to stock with almost no idea of what he is doing. When he does this then lets it OTA he will end up with stock EL30 without a big risk of damage to the phone.

If you have a better suggestion for him then feel free to offer it to him, at least I am trying to help.........

Check out XDA, there is a great group of Devs & other very knoledgable people there. Also everything is up to date......

Samsung Epic 4G - xda-developers

I am currently running CleanGB MTD & it is the best ROM i have ever used.
Check it out......

He wouldn't have risk of damaging the phone just flashing the EL30.tar through odin. And it would a whole whopping one step.

You're right, it would be one step. But in my experience, Odin is a little more touchy than the the Samsung program which has NEVER even had a hickup on me or that I have heard of. I was just trying to give the easiest & most trouble free option that "I" like to use. If you want to tell him all about Odin & the do's & don'ts of using it then feel free to be helpful. So far other people have criticized my method, but have not offered an alternative. If you don't like my way then give him an alternative. Be helpful instead of just criticizing. ;)

I didn't critisize I just stated a fact. So I haven't given him step by step, but that's because if your gonna root your device you should be aware of how to unroot and/or use google. If he google's EL30 Odin I'm sure the within the first 5 links will be the written guide from XDA and a youtube walkthrough by QBKing77.

Their download links were obsolete. I was trying samsungepichack's unroot but everyone is having the problem I am. After installing the drivers and going to use the unroot file, we can't get to the next button after accepting the terms and no one on that site answers or help question about it.

So HELP..I need to take our phones in to sprint for repair.

Use Odin and this:

[EL30] Official EL30 Stock Tar w/modem! SPH-D700-EL30-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 - xda-developers

Its like a 10 minute process. Then you're golden.
