I have a droid DNA and it runs ansldroid 4.4.2. I have never rooted an HTC device before and I need a FREE method of rooting and flashing a Rom any help is appreciated

That's what we've got. Older methods no longer work. VZW are the worst for locking phones down - HTC themselves provide tools for unlocking the bootloader, which makes rooting HTCs trivial, but VZW insist they don't for their versions.

Scotty says that there is one method there that works, but that other bits are only of historical interest.
