Hello I've had a captivate once before but I have gotton a new one,but the problem with this one is I have the 2 gb data plan and everyday for the past three months I have checked my data usage before I go to sleep and I would wake up the next morning and I would check it and would say I have used over 300 mb ,so if you have a solution to the problem I would really really appriciate it.. thank you

You could turn off 3G whilst you go to bed? There's also an app called 3G Watchdog Pro which will monitor what's using your data.

Sounds to me like you've got something that's updating data frequently like a news or mail widget. If you want to know, you can install Network TrafficStats Lite - Android app on AppBrain and see the next morning exactly which app is using that data.

Does it give you any specific app?
I suspect it's not the space they've used, but how much data they've used?

You can, but it would be better to get to the root of the problem first. You just need to check what app is using the most data, amend it's settings and/or uninstall.
Does the list you see look like this:
Underneath the GPRS/EDGE/3G 704MB, what is the next highest on the list, what does it say?
If you Settings -> Accounts & Sync, is Autosync set? If so, turn it off for now.
