Help I need some help please .....backup to sd??

I know that Im probably going to look like a complete idiot asking this but uhm yea.......
how do I go about backing up this phone to a new sd card when it doesnt really give the option to?

Id rather look like a fool for asking than to take the chances of not having it backed up in the first place

So could you guys possibly help me backup my zte merit to the sd card by explaining what I need to do?

Well first off, your not an idiot, we are all noobs at this, to this day im still a noob but my knowledge is of android is increasing everyday.
Second in the terms of backing up to SD CARD (i presume you mean the entire OS) if so you would have to root it, install a custom recovery which allows the user to backup the entire OS onto there SD CARD, and you can post your question here in the root section for better response ZTE MERIT

Actually rooting my merit was and still is my intention. I came across one of Stayboggys post where he uploaded a step by step video of how to do it, looks simple enough......so Im guessing it would be a backup recovery type incase somehow I managed to screw something up really bad (not intentionally but.this stupid thing bootloops constantly and Im sure that would mess up everything while attemptting to root my device)

Im just extremly new at all this and definatly not tech savvy in the least. Kinda need my hand held and walked through whats what and what I need to do.

Short ps.....I wasnt sure I could post there.....my twin did and it was moved.....possibly due to it not pretaining to rooting; etc??
