I Need to Call Police on Text Harasser - Help

someone keeps harassing me over and over on GO SMS.. it doesnt look like its from a number.. its from an email address. i want to call the police and have this person arrested.. how can i find out who it is?
 
Its sort of difficult, but what you can do is go to Go SMS's settings>Basic>Running Mode>Normal Mode. This turns off Go Chat which makes you available to anyone using that service.

Have you thought about sending a (polite) e-mail to the address asking who they are and why they've targeted you? I would suggest you don't use your normal everyday e-mail address. Is it possible somebody thinks they're playing a 'funny' practical joke?
 
Don't think you'll be able to find them, an email address could be anywhere in the world. I think just ignore them, eventually they might get bored with the lack of response. Not sure if Go SMS has a blacklist or an ignore function. If it doesn't perhaps you could find another SMS app that does.
 
There is your answer from a few members, blacklist the person spamming you, and also turn the chat feature off in your settings. ;)

You are likely correct. That said, I found this (which may or may not apply in your state):

If you really want to get even, you must spend money to do so. If you can find the sender's physical address or work address, you could, perhaps serve them with a C&D or whatever the instrument is called. I guarantee showing up at their house or work with a scary looking document gets results.

I have been bothered by a few and it usually ends. As soon as you respond a few times, it is like a flag to a bull and it takes longer to end because the harasser knows he has you.

Perhaps the person bothering you thinks he or she is bothering someone else?

I say let it go. Do what some here have suggested and my guess it will pass.
 
You can always contact your mobile carrier. If you have a court order, they'll be able to tell where it came from and give the information to the police.

Nine times out of ten the harasser will leave you alone if you completely ignore them. Then again it totally depends on if they're making serious threats on your life or not.

If you honestly and truly do not feel safe, call the police.
 
it depends what kind of harassments you are getting. If they are cursing you out or its sexual I would suggest you going to the nearest prisinct and ask police to file a harassment report.
What I would do first is to contact the person who is harassing you with the warning of filing a police report.

First off it is not that easy the police really would not be able to get much done. Secondly unless they have made life threatening type of comments what they are doing is not illegal and thusly arresting them is not possible "legally"

What I would do is find a way to block it. It is most likely just someone that has no life and sits at home to much, it is the sad place most people have gone to in this world. It makes them feel strong or something I don't know. Much like gamers dissing someone for being worse at a game like it makes any real difference in life.

That being said if it was me... I would mess with them right back haha why not make some fun out of it?
