Help I need your opinions

Hi,
We have a procedure for developers to announce their apps. Read this thread for instructions.
Developer Announcement Procedure
  1. Install the Forums for Android app from Play
  2. Sign in to the forum using the app
  3. Goto the forums tab
  4. Select "My Apps & Games"
  5. Select your app from the list
  6. Tap the green icon in the bottom right to start a new thread
  7. Add a thread title / content and hit the post button (right pointing arrow in the top right of the screen)
  8. Once this is done you can use your PC to create or modify threads in your channel
Once you create the channel using the app I will move your thread to the channel.

If you have any questions, please reply to this message.

You don't seem to have a privacy policy statement for this app. Which is I think is especially important, as this app appears to be intended for minors(school students) for processing and storing their personal data, and given that it has full Internet access permissions and contains ads. So as it stands and I don't know how you might use, and possibly monetize any personal data. Does this app comply with the GDPR?

these are two things which never came in my head :/ .. i sadly never followed a tutorial which focus on them .. any other notes ?
 
Ok .. heres the first 2 things that i see when i look at your app in the play store

1) there is a label on it saying Not designed for children...

So.. thats a problem. Lots of people will see that and stop... They won't read anything else about the app


2) Purple and Yellow is a very 'Brave' colour choice. Brave is a polite way of saying that its probably the wrong one
Maybe use system default colours...or something more neutral.


Btw.. congratulations on your app... And I wish you success with it.

Yeh purple and yellow. Might be aright in you're an LA Lakers fan, but YUCK!! otherwise.

IANAL of course, but there are privacy policy templates available online. But without any statement from you about user data privacy, I can't recommend this app at all, especially to minors, which it looks like it's designed and intended for.
 
I'm seeing that "Not designed for children" as well. Maybe the ads in it might show mature or adult content? Things like dating, gambling ads etc.

i actually borrowed this combination from material guide line :D , and i don't know actuly why it isn't designed for children , i was amazed i made this app for children , and thanks alot i appreciate your reply alot

i'll dive into this privacy policy thing , but no promises about the colors i admit i am a bad designer anyway , thanks alot

With the current colour scheme, I did immediately think Lakers, and I'm not even much of a basketball fan. :D I dunno, perhaps use pastels, give the user a choice would be good?


Maybe the "Not suitable for children." message is something to with the settings you've got for this app in the Play Store. That's just a guess, I'm not a dev. The rating it's showing in the Play Store is E for everyone, and not M for mature, etc

my problem , is no one even tried the app :/ , i was waiting at least judgements

The 'Not for Children' tag on you app is toxic for you. I'm guessing 80% of your audience will walk away as soon as they see that.
if you want to proceed with this app, that has to be your top priority.

Of the people who get past that.. the colour issue will make most people run at that point. I refuse to believe that any google guidlines recommend the combination of yellow and purple.
If colourschemes aren't your thing.. ask some friends with artistic skills... for their opinion.
 
That "Not for suitable for children." I've never actually seen in the Play Store, even for apps that are mature or adult rated. That's something you definitely need to get fixed. Parents will see that message, and will probably stop right there.

I did have a quick look at the app itself, but it's not something I actually need and would use. I'm a teacher, not a student, I don't do homework. However due to the current lack of privacy policy statement, I can't really recommend it to any school students(minors). There are hundreds of other student organiser and homework manager apps in the Play Store already.
 
Think I have found a possible bug in your app though. Where it says "Material name", looks like there's supposed to be a drop down menu, but nothing appears in it and can't select anything. Which means it can't save "Add" anything, because the "Material name" field can't be entered. It just says "Please add a material first.", but that can't be done because the "Material name" option doesn't work. FYI device is a Huawei Mate 10 with Pie.

Another thought, why "Material name", it makes no sense. Surely that field should be for the subject, and labelled as "Subject", for things like English, Math, Science, Spanish, Chinese, etc. plus a custom option, so a student can input their own subject name if required

Well I've given you four things, call them judgements if you want.

1. No privacy policy. Especially important on an app that's intended for minors, that has Internet access and is storing personal data.
2. My thoughts and opinion about the colour scheme. BTW are you a Los Angeles Lakers fan or not?
3. An undesirable warning message in the Play Store about your app.
4. A possible bug in it. That you need to fix ASAP, because it makes the app unusable.

Once you've fixed these issues, especially #4. I'd be happy to take another look at your app. :) As I am a middle school teacher, and do know what students do with homework.

WOW that's the most helpful comment for me , thanks alot , i'll work on them now but actually it isn't a bug , you suppose to add a material from the study section first to find its name in the TO-DO maker, i'll make an indicator for that in-shaa-allah

I'll just pick up on the earlier GDPR comment. Compliance with GDPR, including a privaly policy statement in the App (and, ideally in the play store as well, are absolutely essential if you want the app to be used in Europe and the UK (regarding the UK, GDPR will still apply whatever the outcome of the ongoing Brexit car crash) for help on this aspect, you should contact the UK Data Commissioners Office https://ico.org.uk. They're very helpful.

do all apps do this :/ i wonder why i had never read about this in andriod train .. even from these course google offer , and sorry how can they help me do you mean they can provide me with the appropriate privacy statment ? thanks for your reply
