I've had my Captivate since about the end of October and things have been running great. However, ever since I upgraded to the official 2.2 Froyo via Kies mini I started to notice that at times my phone has moments where it freezes momentarily for about 5-7 seconds. Even if I hit the power button my phone doesn't "go to sleep" or "wake up". Also, when playing music all of a sudden the music will pause for 5-7 seconds in which my phone is frozen, then all of a sudden will continue to play.
Since I'm not checking my phone 24/7, I'm not sure how often it freezes. Only when I pick up my phone to do something and to see its unresponsiveness is the only way I can find out its happening. If I'd have to guess, I've caught this system stutter or freeze anywhere between 0-3 times a day.
Another strange thing I noticed was when I was running a test on Quadrant. I know these benchmarks are very subjective, but when I was running it the other day I noticed at the "I/O file system writes" it stays at 0/4 for about a minute and a half to two minutes (I've timed it). Is that normal? I don't recall it taking that long on eclair. Or is this the "lag" that people refer to when talking about the galaxy s phones? The only thing I've done to my phone is root it with "one click root" since it was the only app that could root froyo; and the other apps that I'm using that requires root is Titanium backup, and shoot me (screen shot app). Other than that I don't have too many apps installed. I still have 1.14GB out of 2GB on the internal memory which all my apps are stored on. Out of the 13gb on the internal SD I have 5GB left (due mostly to mp3's). I'm really tempted on flashing a custom ROM to see if that might fix the problem, however I still feel that I'm an android n00b and would just brick it. Any-who, any advice, or input on why this maybe happening, or how I can fix it would be greatly appreciated!
