Root I still have the ORIGINAL Market!

That's right, folks! Not any of the "updated" Markets we've seen over the years... but the old, OLD Market is still on my Darling Bride's Droid since forever!

Now, the updated Markets really never bothered me; now that it's Google Play, however, I'm a bit concerned. Sure, she still gets updates to her apps and all... but I'd really like to see this updated to Play.

Does anyone here know (a) WHY it never updated itself; and (b) how to go about doing it?

I am rooted and running Ultimate Droid 2.5 (don't laugh, it works!) if that means anything. TIA :)

Chief, you tried the obvious wipe of data/cache for the Market right? Wonder if a fresh install of UD 3.0 (or whatever is still kicking around) would work?
When I saw the rough port of ICS, I thought of throwing it on the OG but I could never get the wifi to work, ah well.

Believe it or not, I HAVEN'T. Darling Bride only uses her Gmail account for the phone... and we'll have to figure out the password before we do anything!

As far as installing a new ROM goes: no thanks. We have her phone working exactly the way she wants it. I don't need to go tinkering under the hood anymore (not sure I'd remember what I was doing anyway :p ).

That IS a good idea though, Dread. We'll figure out the password and wipe the Market.

No problem. Wife is still running some super dated Liberty ROM on her Bionic and refuses to let me put an ICS one on there. Ah well.
